Well after that horrible episode of Downton Abbey, I had to do something to cheer myself up. Why not write about a stress free "caking"?
Let me tell you about Kingston. He is such a happy little boy and he has the best smile. I mean seriously, the kid can light up the room. Kingston is also a very smart young man. After all - when I asked him who makes the best cakes, he grinned at me and said:
"Miss Joy!"
(that's me, by the way, in case you didn't catch that.) So how could I resist making a cake for his fourth birthday?
Kingston loves garbage trucks. Which apparently is a common thing for kids his age to like. There are whole Pinterest boards for garbage truck-themed parties! So Kingston wanted a blue garbage truck made with yellow cake and raspberry filling.
I started with a large rectangular cake. I cut out the shape of the back of the truck and the shape of the cab. I also cut out holes for the wheels.
One of my more brilliant ideas was to use chocolate donuts for the wheels. They were the perfect size and texture!
Next came the filling:
And then I frosted the cake and added the wheels.

Then I added some details.
And finished it off with some words and the window.
See, the wheels are totally awesome!
